good viewing….

while husband away last night enjoying Brighton alcohol with uni mates, i took to the sofa and our cinema like-tv (accompanied by a full bar of green and black’s darkest) to watch ‘On a Clear Day’.  Peter Mullan’s performance as an out of work docker aged 55 was excellent and i found his excitement of taking on the challenge of swimming the Channel simply inpsirational.  It’s a feel-good movie so – of course – there is the emotional pain element he needs to encounter, but a good Northern dramedy is sometimes just what you need…..

it’s in the bag

i dont love brands simply for brands sake but some brands i love quite simply because they remain in keeping with their essence.  Mulberry is one of those brands.  Having just been named ‘Brand of the Year’ at the British Fashion Awards, and relocated its flagship store to 50 Bond Street (an address of stature!), i have been reminded of the fabulous yet classic breadth of product.  The new store microsite is brilliant and makes you want to hurry around to see for yourself www.fiftynewbondstreet.com

ps don’t tell anyone i just bought an Alexa fake….

MBEs for working mums

for all those mums who get to the school gates early, keep nattering.  it turns out, this is where great ideas can be born.  Karen Mattison and Emma Stewart were inspired enough by fellow mums keen to find work to fit around their kids, that they set up www.womenlikeus.org.uk.  it now has a turn over of 1.6 million and the motivated founders have been awarded MBEs for services to social enterprise.  I bet their kids are proud.
