grounding work

once a month i meet the events committee for the Anna Freud Centre to make decisions on our upcoming events, from toddler talks to high powered drinks parties.  my au pair comments each month that i seem serene (my word not her’s) after these meetings.  That’s because i feel humbled yet inspired by the amazing work they do at the centre and feel really honoured to be a part of their fundraising effort.  they are re-doing their site and aim to improve their communication (again, honoured to be asked to help out here)  but put them on your agenda if any pennies can be spared this Christmas.  Happy and secure family homes is something we take for granted. http://www.annafreud.org/

date loaf

recipe for this week is date loaf.  Mother in law’s date loaf.  named her ‘signature dish’ by one of the sisters in law. no pressure then!  she has kindly photocopied the recipe and popped through the door.  Loving the ingredient ‘ 1 good teaspoonful of butter’ especially as (other than nigella) we see butter as bad.  anyway, Ocado order completed now that Virgin Media have turned the wireless back on.  tomorrow is the date for date loaf.

welcome to my blog.  at last.  my new year’s resolution starts early as i sit here in my kitchen in shorts and t-shirt.  why arent i freezing like the rest of London/UK?  our underfloor heating is up the spout and it’s currently Mauritius temperature.  Shame no hotel cocktails to accompany.
