haunted (st j) wood

I am officially scared.  No, worse.  I am petrified having witnessed the Halloween extravaganza that takes over NW8 on 31st October.  As we left our divine girlfriend’s elegant and quaint Halloween party on Carlton Hill (she is an unofficial yank having lived it up in NYC for years), we met crowds of demanding sweet-search devils, dressed up as kids.   My little horrors kept up with the gangs as they filled their pumpkin bucket to the brim and, worryingly, never seemed to question why it might be odd to door-to-door beg from strangers living in horror homes.

The icing on my Primrose Hill Bakery Halloween cupcake was witnessing a coach load of trick or treaters on a sugar mission arrive from…. Beckenham.  Now, that is a long way to come for some penny sweets.

twas the night after party…

I had a dream: 120 of my closest friends and family were sipping colourful cocktails, eating perfectly-formed Japanese canapés and swaying to the beat of some top tunes.  Shoreditch’s www.loungelover.co.uk could easily have been the backdrop to the dreamy party with www.masonphotography.co.uk secretly snapping the glamorous crowd.  My head was spinning with awesome Djs Nicola Robinson and Mox spinning their vinyl.

When I work up this morning, I realised that last night my dream came true.  Life and friendship were celebrated in true Yablon style.

calling the ladies…

A little over 2 years ago, the novelist and journalist Rachel Johnson took over as editor of one of the UK’s oldest weekly magazines, The Lady.  The circulation has grown under Rachel’s rule and the editorial is now vastly more interesting (knitting never was my thing).

This week I want you to try the improved version of the 126 year old magazine.  why?  Page 67 features the Anna Freud Centre and the inspiring work they do.

Thank you – once again – to Rachel for her much appreciated support.
